Operational Limitations
Max Wind Speed:
Gusts over 28 mph, or 12 metres per second, measured from the basket. Winds are usually greater higher up. This may vary by access platform.
200kg (2 men and tools). This may vary by access platform.
On most booms this is 25kg, assuming only 1 person in cage. This may vary by access platform. Scissor lifts may be able to carry more weight.
Heavy loads cannot be lifted by the platform - a crane will be required.
A boom out to maximum extension can't have its cage any closer than 15 metres to a power line. Specialist insulated equipment may be necessary, and possibly even shut-down of the power line during works.
Most elevated booms work like giant lightning conductors. We won't be anywhere near one in a storm......
We can work in the dark IF we have suitable floodlighting. If a job runs on after dark, we may need to break off to get suitable lighting established.
The accretion of snow or ice on sensors & controls can be dangerous. The snow makes the cage heavy and treacherous. And we wouldn't want to be up there in a blizzard anyway....
Extreme cold or heat may affect the hydraulics.
