Our Crew Training
At Cherry Green we take our Health and Safety training regime very seriously. In addition to our industry-specific licences, we spend a lot of time and money ensuring our crews are familiar with related skills and legislation.
Our training programme seeks to ensure we comply with ISO 18878 - MEWP operator training, and European Directives 89/655/EEC and 95/63/EEC.
Our crews have all been trained according to the standards laid down by the industry body IPAF, the International Powered Access Federation. Each crewman has a Powered Access Licence with endorsements which cover vehicle mounted platforms, self-propelled booms, spider-lifts, scissorlifts and trailer-mounted platforms.
Our team have been through the Local Highway Authority's training course on "Chapter 8" of the New Roads and Streetworks Act, regarding signing, lighting and guarding of highway activities. This includes temporary traffic management controls such as the use of short-term traffic lights.
Many of our crewmen have prior specific skills in addition - construction, wasp nest removal, facilities management, etc. Where we don't have suitable training for a task (e.g. legionella treatment, abseiling) we can bring in specialists if required.
We give training to our crews in related activities such as the use of hedgetrimmers, chainsaws, and chippers.
